Review: Soon Soon Pan Mee & Fish Head

I love Pan Mee. However, I only eat dry Pan Mee. Picky, yes that’s my nickname. Ha 🙂 Anyway, dad brought me to Soon Soon the other day. Everything they served became my favourite! And ever since, we went at least twice a week.

Soon Soon Pan Mee & Fish Head is located at Damansara Perdana. They deliver good food such as Fu Zhou fish balls, Yee Wat, Pan Mee and Fish Head Mee Hoon.

This is M3: Fried egg with bitter melon and Fu Zhou fishballs served with mee hoon. Honestly, this is my second favourite! It’s delicious. Every flavour blend together and all essence are in the soup. Hence, I always clear the bowl without leaving a drop in it.

This is dad’s favourite F1: Fish Head Mee Hoon. I am not a big fan of fish head. It’s too complicated 😀 You can choose whether to mix with milk or not. The soup is slightly sour and salty because of the preserved veggie and tomatoes. However, it is so good I could finish every drops of it.

This is M1: Bitter melon and Yee Wat with Mee Hoon. Clear soup. Simple dish but with high satisfaction. It taste so good and suitable for everyone wanting a light meal.

Here come my all time no.1 favourite!! p2: Dry Pan Mee (Thick Noodle). This is way different than those I’ve ever tasted in other cafe. The soy sauce and dark sauce usage are just right. Not salty at all. Minced pork absorb the taste of sauces and blend with the noodle.
Menu is hanging right on the wall. And don’t worry, your orders look exactly like the picture.

Review: Akanoya Robatayaki

Every trip to the neighbour country – Singapore, I  make sure Papa bring us to Akanoya. It’s a Japanese Restaurant opened by Papa’s friend.

I love the environment. I love the culture in there. Where chefs are all pure Japanese, how they greeted us with a big fat smile and politely bowed, everytime we appear. Half way through our meal, probably around 8pm if you must know, they soft-pressure us to put everything on hold, raise up both our hands, and clap with them. Everyone in the restaurant clapped. Customers, chefs, waiters, cashiers, everyone. It’s loud, noisy, but warm and happy. It’s definitely an unforgettable experience (:

Appetizer  #1 : crunchy fish crackers
Exceptionally crunchy. Not a hint of oil nor fishy smelling. Dip it in the mayo sauce brings out the flavour of the fish and definitely make you wanting more!

The setting. There are 3 sauces for you to dip in. Personal favourite is the first one. It has some radish on it and base is vinegar. The middle one is soy sauce with sesame oil. The third one, honestly I’m not too sure because I hardly use it. From what I heard it’s miso and sesame oil. Take your pick.

Appetizer # 2 : potatoes and asparagus
I like how the potatoes melt in my mouth when I just put it in without any other action. It is perfectly cook with the special sauce made, sweet and salty. Asparagus is covered with a layer of melted butter. Salty but acceptable.

Nikku Udon. My younger sister always order this before the meal starts. She loves Udon! So do I. Slices of beef are very well cook. It’s not chewy. Still fresh and tender when you give it a bite. The best of it flavours are extracted and blend it well together with the soup hence every taste of the udon is heavenly.

Oh did I mention they cook right in front of us? With fresh ingredients.

Sashimi is amazing! All these are so fresh I feel as if I’m in Japan and not Singapore. Especially adore their taro and salmon 😀 Both of these with a little bit of soy sauce and wasabi, melt right away when it get involve with my saliva. Pure indulgence.

Roasted chili. It’s just chili.. yeah right! Don’t say that until you have tried it. It’s not spicy at all, but you can still taste the true flavour of chili. I prefer the red one.

Best place to have real beef. Wagyu beef on stick! If you think butter melts fast, this dice of wagyu melt faster in your mouth. And what’s best? The aftermath. Haha. Yes, it stays in your mouth long enough for every aspect of your taste-bud to be satisfied. Juicy and tender, and I like mine medium rare.

Mushroom lovers like me can not miss this. Nothing but it’s original flavour. No salt. No oil. NOTHING. It’s just pure mushroom. Roasted. Yet it is filled with juices and the good smell of roasted mushroom.

Alaska Crab. Roasted. A pint of salt. And must squeeze some lime over it. It really brings out the taste of crab meat. Not the fishy taste but it’s tender and fresh meat.

Roasted spring onions. I don’t really know how to explain this, well, I’m not a big fan of spring onions but I love this. It doesn’t have the “green” smell or taste, instead it’s very juicy and actually taste like normal veggies. A little sticky, the liquid from the spring onions itself but it’s definitely not “yucky”.

I always save my stomach for their macha ice cream with red beans. And because of the cny, they have mandarin orange too. Anyway, their macha ice cream is delicious. It doesn’t have too much dairy in it. Taste of green tea stands out. Mixed it with some red beans to add in the sweetness. Perfect match!
